Leadership Team

  • Jason Siegel

    Partner – Global Head of Commodities

    Jason will be Managing Partner of Moorstone. Jason will be responsible for overseeing management of the firm, and leading origination, execution, research, and trading efforts. Currently, he is a partner and Global Head of Commodities at Anchorage Capital Advisors, L.P. He established Anchorage’s structured commodity investment efforts, and is the Portfolio Manager of the Anchorage Structured Energy Transition Fund. Jason joined Anchorage Capital Group, L.L.C. in November 2017 as part of the firm’s Energy, Power, and Commodities team. Previously, Jason worked as a Principal at Global Natural Resource Investments (“GNRI”) in London, formed by the spin-out from Barclays of its commodities-focused private equity business. Prior to his time at GNRI, Jason worked at Barclays as a Vice President in the Barclays Natural Resource Investments group. He received a Master of Science degree in Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

  • Timothy Schmidt

    Managing Director – Chief Operating Officer, Commodities

    Timothy will be Chief Operating Officer of Moorstone. Timothy will be responsible for all the day-to-day operations of the firm including, transaction management, valuation, treasury, middle office, operations, accounting, tax, legal, compliance, technology, human resources, and facilities. He joined the Anchorage Commodities Team in 2025. Previously, Timothy served as the Global Head of Credit Operations and subsequently the Head of Credit on the Chief Operating Officer Team at Schonfeld Strategic Advisors. Prior to joining Schonfeld in 2022, Timothy spent 14 years at Anchorage Capital Group, L.L.C., where he was most recently a Managing Director leading the Valuation team. During his tenure at Anchorage, he also held leadership roles across Treasury, Middle Office, Operations, and Closing. Timothy began his career at KBC Financial Products as a convertible and high yield operations specialist and financial data specialist. Timothy received a Bachelor of Science degree in Financial Economics from Binghamton University where he graduated magna cum laude, is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

  • Brian Wells

    Managing Director – Transaction Structuring, Commodities and Commodities Counsel

    Brian will be responsible for the documentation and negotiation of all commercial contracts and transactions at Moorstone. He is currently a Managing Director and Transaction Structuring, Commodities, and Commodities Counsel on the Anchorage Commodities Team, where he specializes in evaluating, structuring, and negotiating complex transactions, and oversees trade documentation and investment-level financing. Before joining Anchorage in 2023, Brian was a special counsel on the structured commodities finance team at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, where he focused on transactions involving the financing, trading, hedging, processing, and storage of physical commodities. Prior to that, Brian was an associate in the Business, Finance, and Restructuring group at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where he represented debtors, creditors, and investors in connection with distressed situations, out-of-court restructurings and bankruptcy proceedings. He began his career as a Law Clerk for The Honorable Stuart M. Bernstein of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. Brian received a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, and Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Creative Writing and Social Sciences from the University of Southern California.

  • David Osband

    Vice President – Trading and Research, Commodities

    David will be responsible for sourcing, underwriting, and trading across Moorstone’s target commodity markets. David joined the Anchorage Commodities Team in 2023 from Blackstone Credit’s Energy team, where he focused on cross-capital structure public and private market investments in energy, natural resources, infrastructure, and power markets. Prior to Blackstone, David worked on the Opportunistic Credit team at Charlesbank Capital Partners, a middle-market operationally-focused private equity firm, covering investments in distressed investments, special situations, and high-yield credit across sectors. David started his career at Goldman Sachs as an Investment Banking Analyst with the Global Industrials Group. David received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with Honors from Northwestern University and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

  • Matthew Zweig

    Managing Director – Legal and Compliance, Commodities

    Matthew will be Chief Compliance Officer of Moorstone. Matthew will be responsible for Moorstone’s legal and compliance program. Matthew joined the Anchorage Commodities Team in 2025 from Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, where he most recently served as counsel in their private funds group. While at Paul Weiss, Matthew focused on the organization and operation of a wide variety of private investment funds, including private equity funds, hedge funds, credit funds, hybrid funds, and real asset funds. He also has experience in the formation and operation of co-investment vehicles, seed transactions, funds-of-one, and separately managed accounts for a wide array of U.S. and non-U.S. investors. Matthew has significant experience in regulatory compliance and SEC inquiries. Prior to joining Paul, Weiss, Matthew spent over 15 years as in-house counsel at various private fund managers and startups. During this time, he negotiated and managed the process for a number of private investments, managed back office firm operations, and monitored contractual obligations and private funding rounds, as well as managing all compliance and regulatory issues. Matthew received a Juris Doctor degree from Northwestern University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan.

  • Ed Bialas

    Managing Director – Business Development and Investor Relations, Commodities

    Ed will be responsible for firm fundraising and investor relations activities. He joined the Anchorage Commodities Team as Managing Director, Global Head Commodities Business Development and Investor Relations in 2025. Ed joined from First Reserve, a private equity firm focused on investments in the energy, infrastructure, and industrial markets. While at First Reserve Ed was most recently Co-Head of Capital Formation, and prior to that role was a member of the investment team focused on middle market private equity investments across the energy, infrastructure, and industrial value chains. Prior to First Reserve, Ed was an Analyst in the Financial Sponsors Group at UBS Warburg. Ed received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Dartmouth College and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
